This information is provided for persons interested in purchasing marriage licenses in Montgomery County
General information
- Both parties must be present to apply for a license (no blood test required).
- License is $41.00 and is valid for 30 days from the date of issuance.
- Applicants must provide a copy of the divorce decree.
- Payments accepted: Cash
Guidelines for marriage licenses for persons 18 years or older: Residents of Alabama
- Official Picture ID (passport, military ID, State issued ID, Driver License) or
- Certified copy of the state issued birth certificate and 2nd ID such as social security card
- Incarcerated applicant
- Letter of approval from Warden for incarcerated person
- ID for other party as listed for resident or non resident
Non Residents NO EXCEPTIONS
- Official picture identification (passport, military ID, State issued ID, Driver License)
- U. S. Government issued Immigration Services ID Card (green card, visa, alien resident card, etc.). A birth record is not acceptable.
Guidelines for Issuance of Marriage Licenses for Minors 16 or 17 Years of Age
- Both parents must be present or the custodial parent must provide a certified copy of divorce or legal document that grants care, custody, and control. No affidavits will be accepted in lieu of a missing parent.
- A certified copy of the state issued birth certificate for the minor
- Official picture identification for minor and parents(or legal guardian).
- A social security card.
