1/8/2007 - Regular Meeting

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regular meeting January 8, 2007 at the Courthouse in Dadeville, AL at 9:00 a.m. Tallapoosa Publishers was present.

Chairman Coley called the meeting to order.

Circuit Clerk Frank Lucas addressed the Commission to announce the swearing in of the Elected Officials on Tuesday January 16th at 11:00 a.m.

Chairman Coley called the roll. All Commissioners were present.

Commissioner Shaw gave the invocation.

Chairman Coley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Consent Agenda:
Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the December 11th minutes. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve the purchase orders for the Highway Department and warrants for all funds. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the mileage rate change from 44.5 cents to 48.5 cents. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to award the bid for guardrail (#14) to Alabama Safety Services. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Allen made a motion to award the bid for Truck Tractors (16) to Nextran Truck Center. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Tapley made a motion t0 approve the agreement for Industrial Access Grant. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to table the approval of the Stillwaters Hotel Site Plat. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve 4 road names for Alabama Power Company. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve the agreement with the Alabama Historic Commission. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve for the Chairman to issue RFP’s for the Historic Commission. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to change the deadline for the Commission meeting information to noon the Wednesday before the Commission meeting. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the consulting services agreement with Kintera Fundware. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to approve the E911 road names. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Shaw made a motion to award the patrol car bid (#17) to King Ford and the passenger van bid (#18) to Tallapoosa Ford Mercury. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Attachment

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to appoint Ferrell Tidwell to the Finance Committee. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Chairman Coley announced that the Industrial Access Grant for Wellborn Industries has been approved.

The Commissioners decided to inform Stillwaters that the hotel site plat has not been approved yet.

Announcements:
The Courthouse will be closed on January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
