8/3/2005 - GIS Mapping On-Line

PRESS RELEASE

The Tallapoosa County Revenue Department would like to take this opportunity to invite the people of Tallapoosa County to use our new GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Website, www.tallapoosacountymaps.com. Chief Mapper, Janis Yarbrough, said the new system is ready. The data available on line will be the 2005 data.  This will be the data for the tax basis this October.

What does this mean for the people of Tallapoosa County?  You will be able to see the data on any property and improvements (houses, barns, piers and etc) in Tallapoosa County. You will be able to see an updated map of the property in the county.  Also, our new colored aerials will be on line.  Tallapoosa County's new colored aerials were flown in February 2004. You will have the ability to print this information out for your record.

Keep in mind this site is a work in progress. We have found some errors. Land hooks left off or an incorrect parcel number.  Everyone who has checked out the site and the information finds it very helpful. If you find any errors, please let us know.

I can not begin to tell you how excited our office is about being able to serve the people of Tallapoosa County in another way.  My staff and I would like to thank our boss, Linda Harris, Revenue Commissioner for seeing how our office must change to meet the needs for the future. Also, we would like to thank the Tallapoosa county Commissioners and the State of Alabama Department of Revenue for supporting us in this program.
