March 11, 2013

 

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting March 11, 2013 at the courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m.

 

Chairman Tapley called the meeting to order.

 

Blake Beck gave the invocation.

 

Chairman Tapley led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Chairman Tapley called roll. Commissioners Robinson, Tapley, Thweatt and Holt were present.

Consent Agenda

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve the minutes of the February 11, 2013 meeting. Commissioner Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve the warrants and purchase orders. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley entered the meeting.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve a contract with The Atlantic Group and the related budget amendment. Commissioner Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve the appointment of Jane Milton to the Tallapoosa County Department of Human Resources Board. Commissioner Robinson seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Holt made a motion to approve a resolution to replace Town Creek Bridge. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve a resolution to resurface Macedonia Road. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Robinson made a motion to appoint Commissioner Emma Jean Thweatt as Chairman of the County Commission effective April 1, 2013 and to appoint Commissioner Dwaine Holt Vice-Chairman.  Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Discussion Items

 

Don McClellan of the Lake Martin EDA addressed the Commission concerning the clearing and grading of approximately 20 acres at the William T. Thweatt Industrial Park. He advised that this would make the site more marketable to potential prospects. County Engineer David Moore estimated the cost of doing so at around $500,000.00. Commissioner Coley requested that County Administrator Blake Beck review possible financing options and advise the Commission.

 

Chairman Tapley advised the Commission that the redistricting plan submitted to the Justice Department had been approved.

 

Announcements

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Commissioner Holt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
