April 9, 2012

 

The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting April 9th 12, 2012 at the courthouse in Dadeville, Alabama at 9:00 a.m.

 

Chairman Shaw called the meeting to order.

 

David Moore gave the invocation.

 

Chairman Shaw led the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Chairman Shaw called roll. Commissioners Coley, Shaw, Tapley, and Thweatt were present. Commissioner Holt was absent.

Consent Agenda

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2012 meeting. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve the warrants and purchase orders. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion.  The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve a resolution for North Central Avenue Federal Aid project(2013). Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve street light installation at the William T. Thweatt Industrial Park. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to table item E. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Coley made a motion to table item F. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Commissioner Thweatt made a motion to approve a restaurant retail liquor license for Judy’s Stagecoach Inn Inc. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve a proclamation designating April as Child Abuse Prevention Month. Commissioner Coley seconded the month. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

 

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve a proclamation designating the month of May as Older Americans Month. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

 

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to appoint Commissioner Holt to the Coosa Valley RC&D Council. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. See attachment.

Commissioner Tapley made a motion to table Item A. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

 

Discussion Items

 

Commissioner Coley gave a summary of the recently announced Sejin America expansion. He also recognized Coach Jackie O’neal’s recent induction into the Hall of Fame.

 

Commissioner Tapley thanked the other Commissioners for their support of Commissioner Holt.

 

Commissioner Thweatt thanked all of the folks who participated in the clean up of storm damage from the recent tornadoes.

 

Chairman Shaw recognized and thanked Josh Collum for the use of his land to dispose of debris citing the savings to the County.

Commissioner Coley made a motion to adjourn. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
