The Tallapoosa County Commission held its regular meeting September 8, 2008 at the Courthouse in Dadeville, AL at 9:00 a.m.
Chairman Shaw called the meeting to order.
Commissioner Tapley gave the invocation.
Chairman Shaw led the Pledge of Allegiance.
Chairman Shaw called the roll. All commissioners were present.
Public Comments from Citizens
Mr. Charles White addressed the commission. He stated that he would like for Tallapoosa County to enforce a Leash Law for the entire county, not just inside the city limits.
Consent Agenda
Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve the August 22nd minutes. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve Purchase Orders and Warrants. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Tapley made a motion to approve leave transfers. Commissioner Coley seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve to pay Indigent burial expenses in the amount of $64.00 to Wright’s Funeral Home, for the death of Glenn Toler. Commissioner seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve the Industrial Access Project contract. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Allen made a motion to approve the Quit-Claim Deed for Alabama Highway 50. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

New Business
Commissioner Coley made a motion to table for the next meeting, to discuss Tallapoosa County donating the lot on Semmes Street to Habitat for Humanity. Commissioner Allen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Commissioner Coley made a motion to approve Russell Crossroad Improvement District and Russell Crossroads Cooperative District. Commissioner Thweatt seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Discussion Items
Commissioner Coley commended the Red Cross, The Tallapoosa County EMA and Joe Paul Boone for a job well done during Hurricane Gustav.
Commissioner Shaw agreed.
Commissioner Tapley agreed.
County Administrator Blake Beck advised the commission that the budget was almost complete. He stated that it will be ready to present and vote on by the end of month.
Commissioner Coley made a motion to recess. Commissioner Tapley seconded the motion. Following a unanimous vote, the meeting was recessed.
