The Lake Martin area will have its second automotive supplier to locate here after an announcement is made today that Kia supplier KwangSung Corporation will open its first American operation in Dadeville. The supplier, which will employ at least 150 when Kia comes on line in West Point, Ga., will locate in the William T. 7/20/2005 - Police arrest local man for sexual abuse
An Alexander City man was arrested for the alleged sexual abuse of a child, police said Tuesday. Antonio Young, 19, of Greenleaf Street was arrested Monday and charged with sexually abusing an 11-year-old Alexander City girl. Lt. Randy Walters of the Alexander City police department said investigators made the arrest after receiving the incident report this past weekend. While Alexander City's annexation plan was introduced during the first day of the special session of the Alabama legislature Tuesday, some business owners continue to disagree with the plan, now calling it a personal attack against them. In a letter sent to State Rep. Betty Carol Graham and Sen. Ted Little on behalf of Chris and Narendra Patel, Alexander City attorney Derrick Blythe expressed opposition to the proposed annexation approved by the city council calling it "unconstitutional, unjust, inequitable and a form of racial discrimination." 5/21/2005 - New college building could be great for county
Riding near Airplane Island last weekend, I saw an eagle. He lifted off a limb in what appeared to be a dead tree and soared high above the tree line until he was out of sight. While it was not the first eagle I have seen in Central Alabama, it was the first on Lake Mitchell. He (or she) appeared to be a bald eagle in that I could see white head feathers. A few years ago while I was fishing on Lake Martin in Tallapoosa County, I saw a very large nest at the top of a large dead pine tree.
